Ministry of Home Affairs Approved, PP Armed Satpol

The government passed a law that legalized the use of firearms for members of the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP).

Interior Ministry poured its settings in the Regulation of the Minister of Interior No. 26 Year 2010 on the Use of Firearms for Satpol PP.

Ministerial regulation was issued to set the detailed settings for the use of weapons by Satpol PP and Government Regulation no. 6 Year 2010 concerning Satpol PP.

Article 2 Regulation of the Minister indicated that officers may use firearms is the head unit, head of the department / field, section chief, platoon commander, and commander of the squad.

However, for members of the unit which will undertake the operational tasks in the field is also allowed to use it. At most one third of all members of the unit.

Regulations also call this type of firearm that may be used, is a gas cartridge weapon or empty shells, gas sprays and electroshock equipment. Firearms can be used with the permission of the Police and should be submitted by the Governor because Satpol PP referred to as the device local governments to maintain public order and public peace.

Draft shows Regulation was signed by Home Affairs Minister Gamawan Fauzi on 25 March and approved by Menhukham Patrialis Akbar on March 31.
